Our Team

Lee Rosen has over 40 years of experience in investment banking, money management and trading. He also has a broad base of experience in construction management, real estate, and hospitality. He brought a biofuel startup from concept to sales and has managed an ethanol company.  As an investment banker he raised in excess of $200 million. He has taken five companies public on the NASDAQ, American and OTC exchanges and has successfully taken over a public company. Mr. Rosen has been involved in the commodities markets for over 40 years. 

After earning a degree in electrical engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and a MBA from Indiana University Kelley School of Business, Doug Pickering operated in various capacities in private and publicly held operating, engineering, and construction companies, gaining experience in industrial, power, chemical, and renewable energy areas. With over $14B in delivered asset value he has in-depth knowledge of EPC operations coordination, project management, project controls, systems engineering, constructability and life-cycle cost analysis, risk management, asset valuation, energy market analysis, contracting strategy development and negotiation, procurement management, engineering management, construction management, and commissioning. Mr. Pickering is also a principal with Nomad Infrastructure, one of Evolution Hydrogen’s principal partners and the project manager. Prior to founding Nomad, he led many successful large capital projects as either a project manager, director, or joint venture leader, as well as the division leadership of various companies in the power, renewable, and heavy industrial business segments. Over his career he has led integrated construction management teams involving the management of complex, multi-billion-dollar energy projects from planning through engineering and design, and then construction to successful commissioning and operation. 

James Gawenis has over 25 years of analytics research and 10 years of industrial food quality and authenticity analysis after receiving his PhD in Chemistry from the University of Missouri (MU). He  has a Master’s degree in Environmental Civil Engineering from MU with a specialty in water/wastewater treatment systems. Dr. Gawenis has extensive knowledge in water electrolysis hydrogen systems development with additional research experience in materials for hydrogen production and storage.

Kim Johnson has been a senior energy executive for over 40 years. She has served as a General Manager with P&L responsibility across the waste to energy, electric generation, renewables, energy storage, natural gas, fuels, and energy trading sectors and has broad exposure to the developing CCUS and green/blue hydrogen industries. She serves on the boards of Gen2 LLC, a waste to energy company, and Cambree Corp, a real estate development and senior care management company. For the past 20 years she has been actively involved in the development and commercialization of new technologies in waste to energy, energy storage, and hydrogen as well as the development, construction, management and optimization of traditional energy assets. Prior to 2005 Ms. Johnson served as Co-founder and COO Tyr Energy, EVP Aquila Merchant Services (now Great Plains Resources), VP Shell Energy North America, VP Catex Vitol Gas, and VP Diamond Shamrock (now Valero).
