The Evolution Hydrogen Peterhead (EHP) project is sited for it's access to renewable energy, international export facilities, existing energy and oil and gas infrastructure, employment centers with strong engineering and manufacturing credentials, and areas identified as Industrial Green Transition Zones.

809.6 mt/day of 98% pure hydrogen from the Peterhead and Rosyth plants

303.6 mt/day production from all five production blocks

506 mt/day production to complement the Peterhead plant

Each plant consists of five 101.2 mt/day net hydrogen production blocks

The demand for hydrogen in the UK is expected to surge dramatically over the next decade, driven by favorable market conditions and the urgent need for rapid decarbonization. In the EU, the goal to produce or import 10 million tonnes of renewables-based hydrogen annually by 2030 is a key strategy to reduce reliance on Russian natural gas. Hydrogen is emerging as a critical fuel for decarbonizing hard-to-abate industries, such as steel, aligning with major political priorities.
New legislation in both the UK and EU is being introduced to support hydrogen adoption, with cross-border funding allocated to infrastructure projects, including the development of new hydrogen pipelines, to bolster energy security. These trends position EHG’s initial sites to capitalize on a rapidly growing market.

Our site is strategically located near the point where Scotland’s new fixed and floating offshore wind projects will first come onshore. We plan to utilize UK’s offshore wind energy supply paired with electrical energy storage for temporal matching, ensuring compliance with EU green hydrogen standards and 100% availability. The Peterhead plant will allow some wind projects to come online prior to the buildout of the transmission grid for domestic and export markets.
We are currently discussing Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with several wind producers, and SSE, for up to 6 GW of renewable energy, with contract execution expected in 2026.

For efficient market access, our Peterhead sites are located less than one kilometer from the international export port of Peterhead. Peterhead is poised to be the epicentre of new hydrogen infrastructure such as electrical energy and hydrogen storage, pipelines within Scotland, and pipelines internationally in the EU.
EHP is in negotiations for a fully comprehensive logistics management agreement with ASCO, a global provider of port logistics and services.
It is anticipated that the hydrogen infrastructure will become more developed as hydrogen becomes more widely used and the world transitions to clean energy. EHP will utilise the new pipelines planned within Scotland, under the sea, and from Scotland to Germany.
